Bandsaw Restoration: Painting the Base
This photo shows the base frame and the swarf tray (in the corner of the photo) after primer had been applied in two goes (one per side of the base). The primer used was Tractol 816 Light-Grey Primer.
This photo shows the shelves, swarf tray (dismantled) and blade guard after priming. The wooden parts had two coats of primer; metal parts only seemed to need one coat (although the coat was applied in two sessions so that each side could be primed separately).
These photos show the painted base frame. The paint used was Tractol Machinery Enamel in British Racing Green. I like dark green so it seemed a good choice and I felt no particular need to keep the bandsaw in the original colour.
These photos shows the base with all the painted shelves fitted. All of the parts had two coats of paint, with each coat applied in two sessions as per the primer. The black paint is also Tractol brand machinery enamel paint.
