Push Sticks

This is a simple push block to help me use the table saw safely when cutting relatively thin stock. Most of the time I use the simple plastic push sticks that are about 500 mm long (at a guess), but sometimes when handling very thin stock it's nice to have something that pushes very close to the fence and can be cut into by the saw blade if required.

This was made out of a length of 20 mm beech dowel and some plywood; held together with glue and brad nails.

In use, it slides over the top of the fence and moves easily along the fence.

The dowel is (just) short enough that the push stick can be stored on the fence when the fence is put in its storage slot on the side of the saw.
